Choosing the right steel is a delicate balancing act to find the perfect hardness. With 60% higher carbon content than our competitors, we’re able to build a knife that offers a great balance. It’s a unique sweet spot that’ll keep your knife sharp and strong.

Premium Steel

Yamato knives are made with high quality steel, offering a great balance of sharp edge retention and durability, with more carbon content than other “premium” knives.

Sloped Bolster

Our knives incorporate a sloped bolster that travels gradually onto the blade face and encourages a proper "pinch grip" for better comfort and control.

8° Blade Angle

While most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees, we use more acute 8-degree angles for a noticeably sharper cutting face.

    Maintenance Tips :

    1. Do not cut bones or hard food (bones, dried food, frozen food, shelled a nut, etc.) frozen food has to be fully thawed before cutting.
    2. Do not slap on anything with the blade; Do not cut food on hard objects. (glass, ceramics, metal board, stone plate, etc).
    3. Do not sway cutting things, because of the high hardness of the knife, sway cutting will cause the blade edge collapse.
    4. Do not touch corrosive, hydrochloric acid kind materials, keep away from fire, do not soak or clean with saline water. After each use of the knife, please clean it with water, wipe dry and place in a dry and ventilated place.
    5. To ensure better performance, please select different types of knives for cutting different food.
    6. If the knife is blunt, please use professional sharpening stone (available in the shop). Do not use rough sharpening stone or rod, this will seriously damage the steel core and the beauty of the texture.
